Sending emails about the Iraq war to members of
the cabinet and shadow cabinet
The inportant thing is that you tell your recipient in clear terms what your
views on the Iraq conflict are: There is no reason why you shouldn't paste all
the addresses of the shadow cabinet into one email and all of the addresses of
the Cabinet who have emails into another. Unfortunately not all of the Cabinet
have email addresses and you may prefer anyway to write a brief mail note, in
which case you simply address your note to the person concerned, Parliament
House, Canberra. The addressses of some cabinet members who do not have email
are shown below the blocks of email addresses. Here are some two line messages
tht you may consider sending, but send what you think, don't simply parrot
these lines.
eg I am firmly opposed to any involvement by Australians in an attack on
Iraq.
eg I urge you to stop playing the politics of fear and concentrate on making
Australia safe. That will not happen while the government and opposition
continue to support the US belligerent attitude to "regime change" in
Iraq .
or I firmly oppose any Australian involvement in a pre-emptive strike by the
US without security council endorsement.
or I am angry that both political parties are, by their connivance with the
current US line, endangering world peace and exposing Australians to increased
risk of terrorist attack. etc.
The message does not need to be a long one. But it needs to include your
full name and address.
